2011 International Cheer Union World Cheerleading Championships

2011 International Cheer Union World Cheerleading Championships (for National Teams) to be held Thursday-Friday 28-29 April at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida USA.

Over 70 nations from all continents around the world have indicated their intention to participate in this year's World Championship; we anticipate nearly 180 National Team performances during the National Team World Championship event!

The ICU World Championship will, of course, include the ICU Opening Ceremony for the participating 70+ Nations, the ICU Partner Stunt World Championship, ICU VIP Reception/Athlete Cultural Exchange on Thursday 28 April, as well as the ICU Team World Championship on Friday 29 April 2011 concluding with medal presentation and the ICU World Championship closing ceremony.

Once again, immediately following the ICU World Championship, the IASF Club World Cheerleading Championship begins (for world club and school teams) and operates Saturday & Sunday on 30 April - 1 May 2011 also at the Walt Disney World Resort. For the IASF Club World Championship, we again anticipate over 17,000 athletes, 600 of the world's top club/school teams, and over 70 nations participating in the world's largest international cheerleading weekend.

Although the clips are from current sporting events held almost every weekend around the USA (and growing around the world), this clip shows great examples of how cheerleading's 100 year history has developed as its own unique sport; but also why our sport's "cheer leading" or "leading" of "cheer" skills are used to enhance crowd participation at sporting events. You'll notice these skills have been technically developed specifically to lead and energize sporting event crowds which easily transforms to the great excitement we all see today at cheerleading competition venues around the world.

All year round, millions of Cheerleaders (school, university, and club leagues) are found at sporting events in this manner displaying the unique leadership-based and meaningful complexity of our sport. In these examples, you'll see the USA's top ranked/national championship university cheerleading teams in action, as well as a clip from the University of Minnesota (final example) who witnessed the very first cheerleader, Johnny Campbell, back in 1898.

Southeast Asia Coaches Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 14 December 2010

This event will be coordinated in conjunction with ICU's Malaysia National Federation, "Cheerleading Association and Registration of Malaysia" ("CHARM"), and information will also be posted on the ICU website under "Education" http://cheerunion.org/Content.aspx/Education. Additionally as you'll notice, CHARM will be conducting an open athlete education clinic 15-17 December, with an Open Competition on Saturday 18 December 2010. Details for all events are enclosed below and please email with any questions.

Finally, as already circulating throughout Asia and much of the world, the China Cheerleading Open is currently being scheduled for a 2011 date in Beijing, and we will send an update of this great upcoming event at the earliest convenience. Once again, the 2011 China Cheerleading Open will be held in Beijing, China and will be coordinated with great tours of the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, as well as great sightseeing opportunities open to all world athletes. Further details will be submitted in the coming weeks.

2011 IASF Club Cheerleading and Cheerdance World Championships to be held Saturday & Sunday 30 April - 1 May 2011 at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Additionally, The International Cheer Union 2011 World Cheerleading Championships (for National Teams) will again be held the preceding Thursday (Opening Ceremony, Partner Stunt Competition) and Friday (Team Competition) on 28-29 April 2011 also at the Walt Disney World Resort. 2010 China Cheerleading Open to be held 11 December 2010 in Beijing, People's Republic of China.

This event will tie in a 1 day competition event for Chinese television, and also sightseeing tours including the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City (and more) for teams traveling to the event.

ICU is working closely with the China Sports Authorities on this very important event, and more details will follow shortly. However, for planning purposes, in the meantime we have enclosed the "tentative" basic schedule of events to assist teams preparing for this seminal weekend of cheerleading in China.

More details to follow, and subject to change; but enclosed is the basic plan of events:

History of Cheerleading

Prior to 1898: Setting the stage for Cheerleading

The history of cheerleading is closely tied to the history of sports in the United States (i.e. American Football, Basketball and even Rugby), its sporting venues, as well as the historical development of overall crowd participation at many athletic events.

The first American Football university/college game, the initial sporting environment to witness the birth of cheerleading, was held in 1869 between Princeton University and host school Rutgers University located in Piscataway, New Jersey, Northeastern USA; setting the stage for cheerleading to begin.

By the 1880s, Princeton University’s American Football sporting game atmosphere led to Princeton’s students forming an all-male student “pep club” to lead “cheers” (unified chants and yells) in order to provide support to their team, as well as create a high energy sport environment. Cheers such as “Rah, Rah, Ray! Tiger, Tiger, Sis, Sis, Sis! Boom, Boom, Boom! Aaaaah! Princeton, Princeton, Princeton!” were commonly yelled from the seats of Princeton University’s American Football stadium as a method to motivate their team on to victory.

In 1884, one of Princeton University’s graduated students, Thomas Peebles, moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA (North Central USA), and introduced the Princeton “pep club” and “cheer” concept to the students of the University of Minnesota with great success at their American football games.

In the very same year, two University of Minnesota rugby players John W. Adams and Win Sargent created a “team yell” (SKI-YOU-MAH) to also help inspire their rugby team. Both rugby players decided to use the word “Ski”, a native America Sioux battle cry meaning victory, and they also added their own word “U-Mah” as a sound representing the University of Minnesota which also rhymes with “rah-rah-rah” to form a team cheer. Their “yell” became popular throughout the University, and would soon be instrumental to a student named Johnny Campbell credited with inventing what is known today as cheerleading.

By 1889 stadium pep clubs, cheers, school yells, and even school “fight songs” continued to develop in many schools & universities around the USA to inspire their sport fans. Consequently in late October 1898, the University of Minnesota’s American Football team had suffered 3 straight game losses, the university student body and student newspaper editorial made the following plea to their students, “Any plan that would stir up enthusiasm for athletics would be helpful” for their final game of the season versus rival school Northwestern University from the Chicago area.

1898: Birth of Cheerleading

As a result, the University of Minnesota “pep club” students developed a new plan to further involve their crowd in order to win their final game on 2 November 1898 versus Northwestern University. As later quoted in the 12 November 1898 edition of the University of Minnesota student publication “Ariel”:
“The following were nominated to lead the Yelling today: Jack (sic) Campbell, F.G Kotlaba, M.J. Luby, Albert Armstrong of the Academics, Wickersham of the Laws; and the Litzenverg of the Medics. These men would see to it that everybody leaves the park today breathless and voiceless, as this is the last game here, it ought to be a revelation to the people of Minnesota in regard to University enthusiasm.”

One of these nominated students previously mentioned, Jack “Johnny” Campbell, takes the credit as the very first of these “yell leaders” to pick up a megaphone, jump onto the sports field, and lead the crowd with the already popular university organized cheer: “Rah, Rah, Rah! Ski-U-Mah! Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Minn-e-so-tah!” With much credit attributed to Johnny Campbell and his “yell leaders” abilities to motivate the crowd & their American football team, Minnesota won the game 17-6 and cheerleading was born.

Based on the success of Johnny Campbell and his fellow students at the University of Minnesota, cheerleading continued to grow and develop alongside the popularity of sports over the next coming years. As cheerleading continued to grow in participation, new techniques and skills were also added, and cheerleading would continue to refine itself into its current form.

Meanwhile, the sport of Basketball, invented 7 years earlier in Springfield, Massachusetts USA (1891) by Dr. James Naismith as a means to further promote indoor youth fitness during the cold northeastern USA winter months, would also grow in popularity as well as become a major indoor sports environment in which cheerleading would further develop and prosper. Many of the following developments were incorporated on the sidelines of both Basketball (indoor) as well as American Football (primarily outdoor) games over the next 100 years.

1923-1948: Women become the majority of Cheer athletes; new skills and techniques added.

For its first 25 years cheerleading was a “male only” activity. It wasn’t until 1923 that the University of Minnesota introduced the first women cheerleaders at their sporting games. Although women continued to participate as cheerleaders in various parts of the USA after 1923, it wasn’t until the 1940s that women became the majority of cheerleading’s athletes during an era when the university men students left the country to fight in World War II. Today, women comprise of more than 90% of the world’s cheerleaders.

Additionally, the 1920’s witnessed cheerleaders adding enhanced techniques and skills to improve their ability to lead and energize the crowd at games, witnessing the addition of various athletic skills, some tumbling, fight song team dances with traditional “motions” (arm movements), and acrobatics to their routines. A cheerleader at the University of Oregon (Northwest USA) introduced “flashcards” (now called “signs”) for the first time to increase crowd participation at their sporting events.

1948: Introduction of cheerleading training camps; expansion of cheerleading begins.

After beginning his cheerleading career at North Dallas High School and later Southern Methodist University (Texas), Lawrence "Herkie” Herkimer was requested to introduce a "cheerleading clinic" in the state of Texas at Sam Houston State Teacher’s College (now “Sam Houston State University”) in 1948. An immediate success to those interested in cheerleading, Herkie went on to develop his signature “Herkie” jump, the spirit stick, the “pom pon” (also called “shakeroos” in that time), all important elements in cheerleading to this day. Separate cheerleading pom pon teams (also termed “Cheerdance”) are also trained by Herkimer and begin to develop on sport sidelines around the United States as an added entertainment and game leadership component of cheerleading.

1961: National Cheerleaders Association (“NCA”); hundreds of thousands of cheerleaders trained.

By the 1960s, cheerleading could be found in virtually every high school and grade school across the USA, as well as pee wee and youth leagues everywhere in the country. In 1961, Herkimer incorporated the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and conducted cheerleading camps, and clinics to hundreds of thousands of cheerleaders all around the United States. With these innovations and the creation NCA, cheerleading had become one of the fastest growing youth activities in the United States.

1974: Universal Cheerleaders Association (“UCA”), and start of modern day cheerleading.

In 1974, the former General Manager and Vice President of NCA, Jeff Webb, founded the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) to teach higher levels of skills to cheerleaders around the United States. Cheerleading specific skills (partner stunts & pyramids) were introduced to make cheerleading more entertaining, thus augmenting cheerleading’s traditional leadership function; a new era of cheerleading begins.

These advanced skills are first introduced in the Southern & Central United States, and the new style spreads rapidly across the United States. United States former cheerleaders and coaches trained on the enhanced style begin to introduce cheerleading while traveling in various parts of the world over the next decade.

1975: UCA combines cheerleading skills with music, birth of the “cheerleading routine”.

In July 1975, Jeff Webb’s UCA College Spirit Camp Instructors opened their university cheerleader training camp held at Memphis State University (now, University of Memphis) in Tennessee (South Central USA) with a demonstration of cheerleading skills incorporating music; the “cheerleading routine” is born.

1982: UCA hosts the 1st Cheerleading National Championship held on ESPN; syndication begins.

As a method to accommodate the thousands of requests for the new style of cheerleading, Jeff Webb places cheerleading on a new sports television network called the “Entertainment Sports Programming Network” or “ESPN”. This begins 30 years of highlighting cheerleading on television; an introduction of Jeff Webb’s modern cheerleading not only all parts of the USA, but also the world.

Based on syndicated programming of cheerleading national championships, music videos, and sporting events, cheerleading begins to further develop over the next few years in Canada, Great Britain, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Finland to name a few.

1987: Cheerleading safety standards published: American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (“AACCA”) is formed; establishing the safety standard for cheerleading, and begins to become duplicated globally.

With the rapid growth of cheerleading, Jeff Webb’s organization directs the development of a new non-profit entity called “American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators” (“AACCA”) to teach, as well as safety test cheerleading coaches around the USA, and eventually the world. It quickly becomes the standard for cheerleading safety in the USA, and begins to become duplicated globally in the promotion of cheerleading safety.

1988: UCA introduces cheerleading in Japan

Through business sports contacts in the United States, Japanese businessmen ask UCA and Jeff Webb to introduce cheerleading to the youth of Japan, and UCA Japan is born. Over the next 15 years, UCA operates training camps throughout Japan, and assists in the development of Japan’s cheerleading competitions. Japan cheerleading begins, the first organized training camps in Asia.

1989: UCA introduces parade cheerleading performances in the United Kingdom

Although cheerleading recently is started in the United Kingdom, UCA also decides to send USA cheerleaders each year to participate in the 1 January 1989 London New Year’s Day Parade providing a promotional platform for modern day cheerleading. Over the next 20+ years, over 1,000 cheerleaders from the USA, and also around the world continue to participate at this annual historical event before thousands of views in London’s streets.

1990: USA School Cheerleading reaches 1.7 million athletes; non-school Cheerleading Programs termed “All Star” begin to develop around United States.

By 1990, school cheerleading reaches 1.7 million athletes in the USA (source: National Federation of High School Associations); additionally, due to its popularity and overflow of interested athletes, non-school based organizations begin to offer cheer programs. Although initially started in the late 1980’s, the 1990’s see the beginning of non-school based cheerleading called “All Star”.

1991: Event based sports begin to flourish throughout Europe, as well as the need for game cheerleading; European advancement of modern day cheerleading accelerates.

Event based sports (American Football, Basketball and Handball, etc) begin to flourish throughout Europe, as well as the need for game cheerleading. Interest in modern cheerleading at games begins to accelerate throughout the continent. Throughout the 1990’s (started in the 1980s), various educational clinics are conducted in Europe; National Cheer Federations also begin to develop quickly internally in support of the growing interest of young European athletes.

1992: UCA introduces cheerleading performances in Austria and France, NCA in Ireland.

UCA sends USA cheerleaders to participate in the 1992 Paris New Years Day Celebration, and also the 1992 Vienna New Years Day Celebration introducing cheerleading to France & Austria for the very first time. NCA sends USA cheerleaders to Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Dublin, Ireland the very same year. Both Paris and Dublin events will continue over the next 2 decades.

1994: UCA introduces cheerleading in Chile (Cheer Chile); South America & Caribbean Cheerleading begins.

Cheerleading enthusiasts in the country of Chile, Rodrigo Anguita and Irma Olveras Cea, ask Jeff Webb & UCA to introduce modern cheerleading to their home county of Chile, the first in the continent of South America. Over the next 16 years, their new organization “Cheer Chile” and UCA train thousands of cheerleaders throughout the country, and it begins to spread throughout the continent.

As syndication of the UCA National Cheerleading Championships on ESPN is shown around the Americas, and the world, cheerleading also begins to accelerate further interest in Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada, and Puerto Rico to name a few.

In the same year, the Universidad of Puerto Rico Bayamon sends 2 athletes to attend UCA College camp introducing cheerleading to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

1995: First International Cheerleading Performances (Japan & Chile), Walt Disney World Resort.

For the first time, cheerleading teams from Japan and Chile perform at the UCA United States College National Championship in January 1995.

Over the next years, as also with the development of All Star cheerleading, International Cheerleading teams begin traveling to various countries participating in World competition.

1996: Cheerleading participates in the Opening Ceremonies of the XXVI Olympiad.

Cheerleading participates in the Opening Ceremonies of the XXVI Olympiad, the 1996 Summer Olympic Games held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA; further introducing Cheerleading to the world. Future Olympiads would witness participation of Cheerleading at its various sport events.

1999: UCA introduces parade cheerleading performances in Australia, cheerleading clinics & competitions continue to flourish around the world.

UCA sends USA cheerleaders to participate in the newly formed 1999 Easter Day Parade held in Sidney, Australia; the first introduction of cheerleading to Australia and the Oceania Continent.

Cheerleading clinics, national competitions, continental events continue in Sweden, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Russia, Mexico, Canada, and various parts of the world.

2003: Largest United States Cheerleading organizations form & register the not-for-profit entity the “United States All Star Federation (USASF)” and also the “International All Star Federation (IASF)” to support international club cheerleading & the World Cheerleading Club Championships.

As international cheerleading continues to grow (school, university, club/all star), the United States All Star Federation (USASF) International All Star Federation (IASF) form & register a not-for-profit federation to support the growth of world club cheerleading.

2004: The USASF/IASF hosts the 1st World Cheerleading Championships.

The USASF/IASF host the 1st World Cheerleading Championships or “Cheerleading Worlds” at the Walt Disney World Resort taped for the ESPN global broadcast; 14 of the top selected World Teams compete for a World Championship title.

2005: The USASF/IASF hosts the 2nd World Cheerleading Championships.

USASF/IASF host the 2nd World Cheerleading Championships “Cheerleading Worlds” at the Walt Disney World Resort taped for the ESPN global broadcast; 3 nations, 3 continents, 100 world teams compete for the World Championship title; 15 countries, 4 continents observe the championship and hold 1st Annual General meeting.

2006: The USASF/IASF hosts the 3rd World Cheerleading Championships.

USASF/IASF host the 3rd World Cheerleading Championships “Cheerleading Worlds” at the Walt Disney World Resort taped for the ESPN global broadcast; 15 nations, 4 continents, 150 world teams compete for a World Championship title: 17 countries, 5 continents observe and hold 2nd Annual General meeting.

November 2006: ICU directors conduct cheerleading training camps throughout the People’s Republic of China, and assist with 1st televised China Cheerleading National Championships held in Wuhan, PRC. ICU training courses continue annually throughout the country.

2007: The USASF/IASF hosts the 4th World Cheerleading Championships.

April 2007: USASF/IASF host the 4th World Cheerleading Championships “Cheerleading Worlds” at the Walt Disney World Resort taped for the ESPN global broadcast; 19 nations, 4 continents, 200 world teams compete for a World Championship title; 19 countries, 4 continents observe and hold 3rd Annual General meeting.

July 2007: 1st Panamerican meeting held in Memphis, Tennessee. 9 Panamerican Nations attend.

September 2007: The IASF National Federation membership (19 nations) also forms the International Cheer Union (“ICU”) as an additional 501 (c) not-for-profit organization to enhance efforts in supporting national federation & continental confederation development, World Championships for national teams, world recognition efforts by international sports authorities, and to support the safe development of cheerleading around the world.

September 2007: Along with many other developing national federations, the Unites States Federation for Sport Cheering (“USA Cheer”) is registered as a not-for-profit 501 (c) organization as the National Governing body for Cheer in the USA.

International Cheer Union grows from 19 to 35 member federations.

2008: The IASF/ICU hosts the 5th World Cheerleading Championships, ICU submits provisional documents to the International Olympic Committee, ICU training continues around the world.

January 2008: The ICU holds its first European meeting in Orlando, Florida; 19 European Nations attend.

April 2008: IASF/ICU host the 5th World Cheerleading Championships “Cheerleading Worlds” at the Walt Disney World Resort taped for the ESPN global broadcast; 25 nations, 4 continents, 300 world teams compete for a world championship title; 29 countries, 5 continents observe and hold 4th Annual General Meeting.

July 2008: International Cheer Union holds its first coaches and athlete training on the Africa continent in Kampala, Uganda for the ICU NF Uganda Cheerleading Association. ICU training sessions in Africa continue over the coming years.

September 2008: International Cheer Union holds first European Coaches Training in Berlin, Germany. Over 100 coaches from 15 countries attend certification. ICU European Coaches Training Course becomes an annual event.

September 2008: International Cheer Union grows to 50 member federations; submits its provisional membership application to the International Olympic Committee.

November 2008: International Cheer Union conducts for ICU Judges Course in Helsinki, Finland. Judges training will reach over 25 countries within the year.

December 2008: International Cheer Union holds first Southeast Asia/Pacific Training in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia; over 80 coaches from 12 countries attend certification. ICU Southeast Asia/Pacific Training Course becomes an annual event.

December 2008: International Cheer Union grows to 56 member federations.

2009: The IASF/ICU hosts the 6th World Cheerleading Championships; National Team divisions judged by ICU trained judges panel representing 25 countries; ICU submits formal SportAccord application for membership.

April 2009: IASF/ICU host the 6th World Cheerleading Championships “Cheerleading Worlds” at the Walt Disney World Resort taped for the ESPN global broadcast; 38 nations, 4 continents, 400 world teams compete for a world championship title; 45 countries, 5 continents observe and hold 5th Annual General Meeting.

April 2009: 1st Asia, Oceania Continental Meeting is held in Orlando, Florida. 10 Asia/Oceania Nations in attendance.

May 2009: ICU hosts 2009 Eastern European Cheerleading Open in Moscow, Russia. 5 Eastern European Federations and athletes participate in the event.

July 2009: 2nd Panamerican National Annual meeting, Panama City, Panama; 22 Panamerican Nations in attendance.

August 2009: ICU grows to 76 member federations; submits its formal membership application to GAISF / SportAccord.

September 2009: ICU hosts first ICU European Open at Disneyland Paris, 17 nations, 1,500 cheerleaders compete for European Open title; ICU hosts 2nd ICU European coaches conference at Disneyland Paris.

October 2009: ICU hosts first ICU Caribbean Coaches Training in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad & Tobago; to become annual program.

November 2009: International Cheer Union Anti-Doping Code is accepted by the World Anti-Doping Agency for Cheer.

December 2009: To date, the International Cheer Union has conducted judges, coaches, and athlete training in 75 countries on 5 continents around the world.

2010 International Cheer Union World Cheerleading Championships

The 2010 International Cheer Union World Cheerleading Championships (for National Teams) to be held 22-23 April at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida USA.

Over 60 nations from all continents around the world have indicated their intention to participate in this year's World Championship; we anticipate over 130 National Team performances during the National Team World Championship event. The ICU World Championship will, of course, include the ICU Opening Ceremony for the participating 60+ Nations, the ICU Partner Stunt World Championship, ICU VIP Reception/Athlete Cultural Exchange on Thursday 22 April, as well as the ICU Team World Championship on Friday 23 April 2010 concluding with medal presentation and the ICU World Championship closing ceremony.

Once again, immediately following the ICU World Championship, the IASF Club World Cheerleading Championship begins (for world club and school teams) and operates Saturday & Sunday 24-25 April 2010 also at the Walt Disney World Resort. For the IASF Club World Championship, we again anticipate over 17,000 athletes, 600 of the world's top club/school teams, and over 60 nations participating in the world's largest international cheerleading weekend.

Some important points that have been commonly asked about the ICU & IASF World Championship weekend:-

1). There is NO ADDITIONAL COST for athletes competing in BOTH the ICU World Championships and the IASF Club World Competition.
*Please note, one nation in each ICU division is permitted, and also in accordance with each nation's federation. (More registration details to follow)

2). For ICU, crossovers are allowed for ALL ICU World Championship National Team Divisions.

3). For IASF, crossovers are not allowed for IASF Club World teams; due to the large number of teams and multiple venues.
*Exception: IASF dance groups may participate in 2 of the IASF dance divisions.

4). ICU national teams are encouraged to wear the colors, initials, or a patch in representation of their nation.

5). Cheer section of the Premier & Elite Team Cheer Division
*Based on the origins of cheerleading, the Cheer portion represents 10% (10 pts) of the total score of the Premier & Elite Team Cheer Divisions.
*Majority of cheer points be acquired through team efforts to lead the crowd to yell for each team's nation.
*Use of flags, signs, megaphones, poms is encouraged; practical use of stunts/pyramids as well.
*Native language is encouraged as well as any inclusion of native culture within the cheer.
*Cheer portion is recommended to 30 seconds, and placement can be in the beginning (easier for IASF teams) or in any part of the routine. (Cheer video samples to follow)

6). ICU Cheerdance Doubles.
*Based on requests of many nations and also on ICU's philosophy of global development of cheerleading, the ICU will have the Cheerdance Double Divisions (2 athletes) available to all countries interested to participate this year (Cheerdance Double Jazz, Hip Hop and Freestyle). Scheduling to be determined; however, we look forward to further exposure of countries to cheerleading in their efforts to develop cheerleading around the world.

The ICU is looking to hold this year's ICU Annual General Meeting for all nations on Wednesday 21 April 2010 at 2:00 PM / 14:00h (BEFORE the ICU World Championships) at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Immediately following the ICU AGM, the ICU would also like to hold ICU Continental Meetings individually (tentative schedule below) to further discuss ideas and structure opportunities in providing enhanced support to continents in their development efforts in cheerleading.

- 參賽隊伍可自製或安排任何有關比賽項目之道具、飾物、制服等物資，*唯所有有關的物資成本須由參賽隊伍負責。
- 比賽項目場地範圍不可超過 20 呎 (闊) x 12 呎 (深)。

Lunar New Year is the most lively joy of traditional Chinese festivals, the Hong Kong Tourism Board since 1996, was held during the annual Lunar New Year Lunar New Year parade, the purpose is to attract more travelers to visit Hong Kong during the festive period. After 10 years of promotion, this blend of traditional culture and customs and festival performances, spectacular shows, the event has become the world's attention is also Hong Kong people and tourists to celebrate the New Year focus.

Forward in 2010, held to the 15th of the Lunar New Year parade will once again show the world until the end of the living culture, to consolidate Hong Kong as the "Events Capital of Asia" and the reputation is bound to attract international media widely reported that encourage more visitors. To strengthen program content, the Hong Kong Tourism Board invited to submit proposals for local performing groups to participate in these exciting performances, so that visitors and the public can experience the essence of the local performing arts, and to replicate around the world. 3. Parade Date, Time and Venue:
- 14 Feb 2010 (Sun) Year of the Tiger New Year's Day
- 20:00 to 21:30, auditorium at 19:00 Open
- Opening ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui

4. Parade Route:
- From Tsim Sha Tsui -> Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong Cultural Center Square -> forward along Salisbury Road to Mody Lane, then turn back the New World Center -> The General Assembly set up along Salisbury Road, three performance areas

5. Parade Content:
Apart glistening dazzling floats outer and international performance teams and carefully selected local performing teams, will present a colorful dance, silver and instrumental music, drag shows, and the insertion of elements that interact with the audience, so that everyone having fun.

Local performing teams taking part in the selection of pre-show notes - interest in participating in the local performing teams:
1. - First, to attend the seminar, the performance by the parade producers to explain the arrangements.
2. Before 25 Nov, 2009 - Parade of the plans submitted.
3. Early Dec 2009 - by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the performances produced by the appropriate local performing teams selected to participate in the 2010 Chinese New Year Parade.
4. Mid Dec 2009 - results received by local performing teams.
After the selection - selection of the local performing teams:
5. Dec 2009 - show producer with the team leaders to follow up on the detailed arrangements.
6. Mid Jan 2010 - must participate in the organization of the General Assembly, local performing team rehearsals.
7. 13 Feb 2010 evening - must attend rehearsal.
8. 14 Feb 2010 - must participate in International Chinese New Year Night Parade on 20:00 to 21:30 -> fixed-point performances (before the guests, the parade route before the audience and the media-specific filming location)

DEFINITIONS

The following definitions apply for purposes of these Bylaws.

1.1 “Active Athlete” as any athlete that has, within the last ten (10) years, (i) competed at an official national championship, sanctioned and/or conducted by the respective national federation for sport cheering within a country.

1.2 “Athlete” means an athlete who is eligible under the ICU rules to compete in International Athletic Competitions conducted under ICU auspices.

1.3 “Athletic Competition” shall have the same meaning as “amateur athletic competition” as established by (Hong Kong)’s National Olympic Committee or Sports Ministry or national sports governing council.

1.4 “Cheer” means the sport of cheer.

1.5 “Cheer Community” means all those individuals, groups, and organizations that have an association with or interest in Cheer.

1.6 “NOC” means the National Olympic Committee, the respective Olympic body that controls the Olympic program within (Hong Kong).

1.7 “ICU” means the International Cheer Union, a nonprofit corporation organized on May 31, 2007 under the laws of the State of Texas, in the United States of America.

1.8 “International Athletic Competition” means Athletic Competition between one or more Athletes representing (Hong Kong) and, and one or more Athletes representing any other country, which is also a member of the ICU.

1.9 “IOC” means the International Olympic Committee.

1.10 “National Governing Body” or “NGB” means a National Sports Organization that is recognized by the National Olympic Committee of (Hong Kong).

1.11 “National Sports Organization” means a nonprofit or “tax exempt” business or corporation, club, federation, union, association, or other group organized in (Hong Kong) that sponsors or arranges any Athletic Competition, instruction, events, or other services associated with Cheer. (NOTE: TAX STATUS MAY BE DETERMINED BY THE LAWS OF (HONG KONG).

1.12 “Quadrennium” means the four-year (4-year) period that begins in January of the year following the Summer Olympic Games and extends until December 31 of the year in which the next Summer Olympic Games is held.

International Cheer Union Celebrates 75th member nation

With the addition of Greece, the international cheerleading community now has 75 nations with governing bodies of cheerleading.

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 2009) — As evidence of cheerleading's popularity and accessibility around the world, the International Cheer Union has welcomed its 75th member country. Joining recent additions Sri Lanka and the British Virgin Islands, Greece has recently completed the membership process.

"We are celebrating just how widespread cheer has become across the world," said Karl Olson, Secretary General of the ICU. "What started on an American college campus more than a hundred years ago has become a beloved sport on every continent."

The International Cheer Union (ICU) proudly counts 75 member countries from all five continents. It is the non-profit governing entity for international cheerleading, with the goal of expanding overall participation in cheerleading worldwide. The 2009 ICU World Championship was held in April in Orlando, FL, with cheerleading teams from 40 countries competing for titles.

"This milestone represents the growing popularity of cheer across the world, and is a reflection of its strength," says Jeff Webb, President of the ICU "Cheerleading's growth is a testament to its popularity among athletes, its ease of entry and its fundamentally positive nature."

As the ICU continues its pursuit towards formal recognition as the official world governing body for cheer, its growth and quick assent are critical towards this goal. With this milestone addition, the ICU will be submitting formal final documents to the international sports organizations, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the General Assembly of International Sports Federations (GAISFs).

The International Cheer Union (ICU) was formed as the non-profit international governing entity whose mission is to advance cheerleading on a global scale. With 75 member nations, the ICU represents the various geographical areas where cheerleading exists. The ICU promotes healthy competition, rule development and education for parents, coaches and students so that the sport can progress in a safe and organized way. The ICU is currently fulfilling membership requirements for the General Assembly of International Sports Federations (GAISFs) and its Executive Council participated in recent meetings with International Federation Presidents and members of GAISFs. 7國爭霸親民啦啦隊亞洲冠軍

〔記者李信宏／苗栗報導〕「青春無敵」！親民技術學院啦啦隊5月16日、17日到日本東京參加亞洲啦啦隊國際公開賽，擊敗中國等7個國家，榮獲男女混合組冠軍；縣長劉政鴻昨天致贈全隊28名隊員每人1000元禮券，並允諾補助30萬元，發展啦啦隊運動。

親民技術學院啦啦隊成立至今已15年，近年來在國內外表現傑出，去年曾在國慶大會演出，97年在全國啦啦隊錦標賽拿下大專組冠軍，4月中旬應邀在苗栗舉辦的全國中等學校運動會開幕式、閉幕式演出，舉凡空中拋接、翻滾等高難度動作，都難不倒這群美少男、少女。

週一至五苦練不怕傷

被隊員們暱稱「爸爸」的教練張育銓表示，亞洲國際公開賽各國高手如林，隊員連續好幾個月，從週一到週五每天苦練3小時，再三演練高拋、翻騰與旋轉等各項高難度技巧，許多隊員受點小傷都不願休息，讓人看了好感動。

張育銓表示，親民啦啦隊能脫穎而出，除了苦練有成，去年國慶日在總統府前演出、4月參加全中運開幕、閉幕典禮，因為「大場面」看慣了，自然強化比賽時的抗壓性，不怯場才能發揮實力，擊敗中國、日本、泰國、新加玻、香港、印尼、菲律賓等7國的代表隊。親民啦啦隊隊長陳志偉說，比賽時，全體隊員只有「一定要贏」這個信念，接連幾個空中翻滾動作都乾淨俐落，大家越來越有拚勁，抱回冠軍盃時，許多女隊員都喜極而泣，平日的苦練沒有白費。

下月再戰預約全國冠軍

全國大專院校啦啦隊比賽，6月6日、7日在苗栗巨蛋體育館舉辦，劉政鴻祝福親民啦啦隊「奪冠連莊」；隊員們都表示，會努力表現最好，為苗栗爭光、留下冠軍盃。

Gold medals awarded in nine cheer and dance categories.

ORLANDO, Fla. (May 2009) — Cheerleading, once a distinctively USA activity, has gone global. More than 85 National teams from more than 45 countries gathered at the Walt Disney World®Resort for the first ever world-wide International Cheer Union (ICU) cheerleading and dance team championship. Each nation’s team was comprised of its most talented cheerleaders.

During the two-day event, held April 23-24, athletes from countries such as China, Jamaica, Germany, New Zealand and South Korea, demonstrated the growing prominence of cheerleading across the globe. The history-making event marked the largest collection of international cheerleading groups ever assembled for one competition. Nearly 2,000 competitors and more than 10,000 spectators participated in the two day event.

Team USA Cheer and Team USA Dance, which featured the best cheerleaders and dance team performers from all over the U.S., took home six gold medals. Teams from China and Canada also won gold for their remarkable performances in their respective divisions. Teams from Thailand, Columbia and Chile thrilled the crowd with world-class performances and enthusiasm to spare.

“We were blown away by the performances and just how far many of the international teams have come in a short time,” said Karl Olson, Secretary General of the ICU. “But even more remarkable was the spirit of unity in the arena, as teams cheered for each other and embraced each other’s culture. In a global village, cheerleading was the common bond.”

Patterned on the Olympics, the event featured opening ceremonies with teams in national wear, a cultural village where teams exchanged pins and immersed themselves in each other’s cultures and closing ceremonies during which medals were awarded and the national anthem of each winning country was played.

The International Cheer Union (ICU) proudly counts more than 65 member countries from all five continents. It is a non-profit governing entity for international cheerleading, with the goal of receiving membership applications from National Cheer Federations all around the world. ICU events are open to national or provisional cheer federations.

“These cheerleaders held their national flags high during the opening ceremony, and they proved to be true ambassadors for their countries,” said Jeff Webb, president of the ICU and the recognized leader in the development of modern cheerleading. “We’ve seen the passion that exists for cheerleading worldwide, and our goal is to help enrich the lives of even more athletes in more countries through this sport.”

As the ICU continues its pursuit towards formal recognition as the official world governing body for the sport of cheer, its growth and quick assent are critical towards this goal. Requiring a minimum of 50 member countries to belong to GAISFs (General Assembly of International Sports Federations), the ICU has already surpassed that hurdle as its membership approaches seventy member federations.

“I attended the GAISFs SportAccord meetings in Denver this March, I am confident that the ICU’s goals are aligned with theirs,” says Jeff Webb. “I was pleased with the meetings I attended and am very optimistic for the future of the sport of cheerleading.”

The International Cheer Union (ICU) was formed as the non-profit international governing entity whose mission is to advance cheerleading on a global scale. With 65 member nations, the ICU represents the various geographical areas where cheerleading exists. The ICU promotes healthy competition, rule development and education for parents, coaches and students so that the sport can progress in a safe and organized way. The International Cheer Union (ICU) currently encompasses nearly 60 member nations and continues to grow as a unified voice for all those who are dedicated to the positive advancement of cheerleading throughout the world. The ICU is structured to provide balanced input and governance based on the various stages of development in which cheerleading finds itself across the globe.

The ICU would like to give teams around the world the opportunity to travel and compete at international championships on the globe in between the official world or continental championships worldwide. The European Open Championship is a championship open for all club and national teams that would like to compete on an international level in a great environment. The championship is not just open to teams from Europe but also to teams from all continents like America, Asia, Australia or Afrika.

Cheer divisions in different levels and three different age groups are offered. Dance teams can choose between three different dance divisions (Freestyle Cheer, Jazz and Hip Hop). Also partner stunt and group stunt divisions are available. National teams from different countries can compete in an own national team division.

This championship will follow the rules and regulations of the International Cheer Union. This guaranties a safe and professional environment for all participating teams. The judges panels will include well trained international judges.

The Disneyland® Resort Paris is the perfect environment for this championship with activities, games and rides that spark the imagination in a family-friendly environment.

Participating teams can book different packages including accomodation in different hotels, registration fees and park tickets for the Disneyland® Park and / or the Walt Disney Studios® Park.

Also packages that just include the registration fees and park tickets are available for commuter teams.

The championship will be held at the Times Square Ballroom of the Disney's Hotel New York® Convention Centre.

'AUS Cheer' is the brand name used by Gymnastics Australia (the national governing body for cheerleading in Australia) to deliver their cheerleading activities. The 'AUS Cheer' Cheerleaders participate in competitive style cheerleading, known as 'All-Star' cheerleading. All-star cheerleading performances incorporate cheer dancing (dance with an emphasis on strong arm movements), gymnastics, stunts and pyramids.

Redskins Cheerleaders Going to Hong Kong!

Twenty-eight members of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, along with Directors Donald Wells and Stephanie Jojokian, will travel to Hong Kong at the end of January to participate in the 2009 Chinese New Year Parade. The Redskins Cheerleaders will entertain millions during the more than 2-mile long parade route and live on TV.

This is the first time the First Ladies of Football have traveled to Hong Kong and it will be an amazing ending to a year of world traveling. Within 10 months the Redskins Cheerleaders have traveled to India, Aruba, Germany, the Netherlands, England and now China.

"Our Cheerleaders are extremely well known and popular in many places in the world. The popularity in India was especially amazing considering they didn't even know about the NFL when we entered the country," says Donald Wells.

"We are looking forward to having the same effect in China as we did in India and I know that our Cheerleaders will be a huge hit," he adds.

Since 1999 the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders have traveled to more countries than any other professional sports entertainment group and have gone places where no other group has gone before. From bringing smiles to our military members in Iraq to cheering on the Cricket Players in India, the First Ladies of Football are true Ambassadors to the Redskins, the NFL and America.

The ICU World Cheerleading and Dance Team Championships (National Teams)
- There is NO EXTRA COST for athletes competing in the ICU World Championships. If the athletes are also participating or attending as spectators for the IASF Club Worlds; then will be no additional expense to them.
- Additionally, the ICU World Championship will be the day before the IASF Worlds, so many teams can easily participate in both championships; as long as they fulfill the age & size requirements of each category. ICU athletes can participate on multiple teams (cheer, dance, partner stunt) for their country; however, during IASF Club Worlds athletes can only participate in one division (cheer only) or two for dance (as defined in IASF rules).
- Soon the ICU World Championship registration forms for each country will be sent to complete, and this will only be needed so we have the correct athletes registered for the correct teams & divisions. No additional money will be needed with this form.

International Cheer Union presents the first 2009 ICU World Cup Championship for National Teams!

Team Cheer Divisions
*One nation can provide teams to compete in all team cheer divisions, if desired:
1). Coed Elite (similar to level 5)
2). All Girl Elite (similar to level 5)
3). Coed Premier (similar to level 6)
4). All Girl Premier (similar to level 6)
*One nation can also compete in all Dance & Partner Stunt Divisions as well.

1). Freestyle Cheer Dance

*One nation can provide teams to compete in all partner stunt divisions, if desired:
1). Group Stunt (up to 5 female athletes)
2). Coed Partner Stunt (1 male, 1 female, 1 spotter)
*One nation can also compete in all Cheer & Dance divisions as well.

NOTE: For all ICU National Team Competitors (cheer, dance, partner stunt), the ICU is requesting that the competitors and teams identify their nation by color of uniform, patch, country's name/initials, or some indication of the nation they represent.

General notes
1). All rules and scoresheets available at www.cheerunion.org.
2). For the ICU Championship only, athlete cross-overs (athletes participating in multiple divisions) are allowed for teams of the same country.
3). ICU athletes ma participate in the IASF Club Worlds and the ICU World Cup Championship; however, no crossovers allowed within the IASF Worlds event.

ICU Judges Courses (Cheer & Dance: separate courses)

Each course (dance & cheer) encompasses approximately 8 hours of classroom work (video, testing, lecture, practical lessons), as well as real time judging at competitions. The best & most effective method to train judges on the ICU course is train during a Cheerleading and/or Dance Competition weekend.

More details to be provided; to help with planning & if you are interested in hosting an ICU Judges Course (cheer, dance or both) training session in your country, please e-mail the following information.

2008全國啦啦隊錦標賽，於12/7(日)下午1點在中國文化大學體育館2樓舉行

"非參賽者一律憑票入場"

取票方式：
1.灰姑娘西門町門市(400張)，可於門市上班時間(08:00 - 20:00)領取，每人限4張。
2.各參賽隊伍也會預留入場門票，加油團可與參賽隊伍聯繫。
3.比賽當天早上9點整在體育館活動入口發放入場門票，發完為止!
4.中午，技巧比賽預賽(11:00 - 12:00)後進行清場，13:00準時開放入場(憑票)。

注意：
1.非參賽者僅有600席坐位、200席站位，希望有最佳最舒適觀賞空間的朋友，要提早來排隊唷!
2.全館禁止飲、食。
3.觀眾禁止於比賽進行時攝、錄影。(參賽隊伍要申攝錄影許可證)

Background of "Hong Kong Cheerleading Coordination":
1. Subsidiary of DMP Club (Dance, Movie, Photo)
2. Registered Non-Profit Distributing Organization
3. Constitution of "Hong Kong Cheerleading Coordination"

a. Vision:
To promote Hong Kong Cheerleading Culture and coordinate with the world’s Cheer.

b. Mission:
- To coordinate all HK Cheers in Performance and Competitions.
- To promote the spirit of Cheerleading, cheer up HK.
- To provide useful Cheerleading Information for Global Cheers.

c. Promotion and Development Planning:
Promote the organization by cooperating and coordination with other parties to organize competitions and performance. Target on participating in Asian Cheerleading Competition and Cheer Worlds Championship.

Methodology:
1. Promotion: In May/June 2009

2. Target Group: 20-30 Teams

3. 1st Round Competition (June/July - 2 to 3 hours):
Uniform prepared to perform at the Shopping Mall, find out 10 teams for Final Round.

4. Semi-finale and Finale Round Competition (July/Late July – 1 to 2 hours):
a. Choose 2 from the 10 teams for the finale. The result will be judged by the visitors.
b. 6 Prizes will be given for the Cheer Teams:
Champion, First Runner-Up, Second Runner-Up, Best Dance, Best Uniform, Best Team Spirit
c. Final 10 teams can join "Hong Kong Cheer Team" so that they may have sponsors to support their uniform and present HK to perform and compete in China and other areas.**

2. 6 Prizes with plastic cup
3. Press Conference Day and/or Advertisement
4. Production Fee of Posters and Performance on Press Conference Day (Optional)

Hold “Hong Kong Cheerleading Competition” in every 1 or 2 years so that this can help to promote the culture and have enough time in preparation and training for International Competitions in Japan, USA and China. [World Cup, Olympic Games, Asian Games, Hong Kong Games (and other Sports functions) are appeared in alternate 2 years of time.]

Beneficiaries from Cheerleading Competition:
1. Establish a good image in cheering up Hong Kong and good Community Responsibility Image for Corporation.

Invitation to Submit a Proposal to perform at the
"2009 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade"

Inaugurated in 1996, the International Chinese New Year Parade was initiated by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to attract more visitors to the city during the most auspicious and exciting festival in the Chinese calendar. Since then, its ever-growing popularity has helped make it a renowned international event and established Hong Kong as the focus of Chinese New Year celebrations worldwide. Selected by the Lonely Planet Bluelist 2007 as the "Best Value Entertainment Around the World", the Parade has captured worldwide and national attention and brought excitement and fun to visitors and local residents where they can indulge themselves in the unique living culture of Chinese traditions, rituals and festivities celebrations.

Entering its 14th staging in 2009, the Parade will again demonstrate Hong Kong's position as the 'World's Capital to celebrate Chinese New Year' attracting international publicity for Hong Kong as the preferred travel destination. The Parade also provides a great opportunity for local performing groups to showcase their talent and exchange ideas and skills with their international counterparts.

To enrich the programme for the 2009 Parade, HKTB would like to invite local performing groups to submit proposals for the performance. We sincerely hope that we can work together to make this the best Parade ever.

5. Parade Route: Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
• Starts from the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza (for ticket holders only)
• Proceeds along Salisbury Road to Mody Lane, makes U-turn and ends at New World Centre.
• Three performing zones along Salisbury Road

6. Programmes
Elaborately decorated illuminated floats, International performing groups and specially selected Local performing groups presenting dances, marching band music, costumed characters and interactive elements with the audience.

1. 1 November 2008: 3:00pm – 4:00pm
- A briefing will be conducted by the Show Producer. Detailed arrangement for the Parade will be provided.
2. Before 15 November 2008: Submission of proposal.
3. November 2008: Local Performing Group selection the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Show Producer.
4. End November 2008: Individual notification of selection result.

After Selection x Selected Local Performing Groups
5. December 2008: Show Producer will follow up with leader of each group.
6. Mid January 2009: Must participate in Local Performing Group Rehearsals arranged by the organiser.
7. 25 January 2009 (evening): Must participate in Final Full-dressed Rehearsal.
8. 26 January 2009: 8:00pm – 9:30pm
- Must participate in the Night Parade.

〔記者曹明正／高雄報導〕全國四十一所大專院校、一百零一支隊伍同台競技的九十六學年度全國大專院校啦啦隊錦標賽暨第九屆KISS美少女啦啦隊全國選拔賽昨天揭曉成績，創意啦啦隊前三名依序是政治大學、康寧醫護管理專科學校及高雄海洋科技大學。

其他各組前三名，啦啦舞：實踐大學、銘傳大學、萬能科大；女生組：新生專校、馬偕專校、長庚學院；混合甲組：世新大學、萬能科大、親民學院；混合乙組：交通大學、政治大學、南台科大。

為角逐總獎金高達二十萬元，這項賽事報名隊伍及人數年年成長，去年參賽的有卅八校、九十五隊，今年增加為四十一校、一百零一隊；而過去全國選拔賽都在台北舉辦，今年為響應高雄即將到來的世界運動會，也特別移師到高雄海洋科技大學登場。

Methodology:
1. Promotion: In May/June 2008

2. Target Group: 20-30 Teams

3. 1st Round Competition (June/July - 2 to 3 hours):
Uniform prepared to perform at xxxxxx, find out 10 teams for Final
Round.

4. Semi-finale and Finale Round Competition (July/Late July – 1 to 2 hours):
a. Choose 2 from the 10 teams for the finale. The result will be judged by the visitors.
b. 6 Prizes will be given for the Cheer Teams:
Champion, First Runner-Up, Second Runner-Up, Best Dance, Best Uniform, Best Team Spirit
c. Final 10 teams can join "Hong Kong Cheer Team" so that they may have sponsors to support their uniform and present HK to perform and compete in China and other areas.**

1. Decoration of the venue
2. 6 Prizes with plastic cup
3. Press Conference Day and/or Advertisement
4. Production Fee of Posters and Performance on Press Conference Day (Optional)

Future Planning:
Hold the largest Cheerleading Competition in every 2 or 4 years so that this can help to promote the culture and have enough time in preparation and training for competition in Japan, Taiwan and/or China. [World Cup, Olympic Games, Asian Games, Hong Kong Games (and other Sports functions) are appeared in alternate 2 years of time.]

Beneficiaries from Cheerleading Competition:
1. Establish a good image in cheering up Hong Kong and good Community Responsibility Image for Corporation.
2. Raise the needs and culture of Cheerleading in Hong Kong, so that Colleges and Universities will aware of the development, especially the Government.
3. Cheerleading can help to attract more travelers visiting Hong Kong – Tourism.

【大紀元綜合報導】中華啦啦隊參加芬蘭舉行的第四屆世界杯隊錦標賽，17、18日兩天在芬蘭首都赫爾辛基登場，台灣男女混合隊不負眾望勇奪銀牌，女子隊榮獲第4名。中華啦啦隊協會秘書長謝銘燕表示整個賽程芬蘭電視台現場直播，中華代表隊全程使用青天白日旗參賽，成功做了一次國民外交。全體隊員在今日下午返抵台灣。

據中央社報導，領軍的台灣競技啦啦隊協會秘書長謝銘燕表示，在赫爾辛基舉行的第四屆世界杯啦啦隊錦標賽，台灣派出男女混合隊和女子隊參賽，分別與8國和7國的隊伍較勁。

綜合17日預賽和18日決賽的積分後，中華台北男女混合隊勇奪銀牌，僅次於日本，女子隊榮獲第4名，次於排名前3名的日本、芬蘭和挪威。

謝銘燕指出，中華台北代表隊由17所大專院校遴選出的教練及選手組成，比賽時現場的5千名觀眾熱情為台灣加油，不僅「芬蘭電視台」全程現場轉播，頒獎時還升起青天白日旗，完成了一次成功的國民外交。

國際啦啦隊總會目前由28個會員國組成，台灣競技啦啦隊協會成立於2001年，是最早加入國際啦啦隊總會的地區之一。代表隊全體隊員於今日下午4時10分返抵台灣。

不過，謝銘燕也無奈的說，這次比賽需要的新台幣300多萬元經費，台灣體委會到現在一分錢都沒補助，都是由學生刷卡或是協會借貸支付。

謝銘燕語重心長地表示，希望透過媒體的報導，能喚起台灣政府跟民眾對啦啦隊比賽的重視，因為這項活動選手需要十足的肺活量，不能抽煙不能喝酒，年輕人不會染上惡習，而且可以訓練年輕人的團隊合作精神，加上不受體型限制，是很有希望在國際體育競賽得獎的運動項目。◇

世界杯啦啦隊錦標賽十七日開戰台灣派兩隊拼佳績

2007第四屆世界杯啦啦隊錦標賽，將於十一月十七、十八日在芬蘭赫爾辛基熱鬧登場，身為國際啦啦隊總會會員國之一的台灣，自然不能缺席，將派出男女混合隊、女子隊參加賽事，爭取最高榮譽。

國際啦啦隊總會IFC（International Federation of Cheerleading）目前由二十八個會員國所組成，台灣是最早參與國際啦啦隊總會的國家之一。

中華代表隊於上屆世界賽拿下一金一銅的成績，本屆派出男女混合隊、女子隊參賽，和來自世界各地共二十五隊同場較量。代表隊將由中華民國台灣競技啦啦隊協會秘書長謝銘燕領軍，總教練張育銓帶領來自十七所大專院校遴選出的台灣優秀教練及選手共四十九名，前往芬蘭參賽。

中華民國台灣競技啦啦隊協會CTCA（Chinese Taipei cheerleading association）成立於2001年，旨在推展啦啦隊運動。謝銘燕表示，十分感謝各界的鼓勵與協助，讓啦啦隊在國內不僅能順利推廣，也讓優秀的啦啦隊選手有機會代表台灣站在國際舞台上，替台灣爭取好成績。

2000年4月，傳奇韓國女子「趙守鎮」小姐成立了「北京守鎮啦啦隊」，在2005-2006年賽季被CBA官方冠以「全國最佳啦啦隊」的稱號。趙守鎮小姐已獲委任為08北京奧運啦啦隊舞藝術顧問，而其創辦的北京守鎮啦啦隊，亦已獲委任成為多個中國奧運代表隊的官方指定啦啦隊。

被譽為「中國第一」啦啦隊，與「韓國最強」KBL火熱啦啦隊一同來港表演，並會Crossover演出。

啦啦隊舞 - 奧運場上的國家級首要任務
啦啦隊是美國運動圈子內的骨幹力量，甚至已成為「運動心理戰」的主要部份，如同足球／籃球比賽中是否佔「主場之利」一樣，能對勝負影響深遠。為使中國運動員以更好的心理狀態面對強敵，中國奧委會及運動圈子人員，正全力為打好「運動心理戰」的籌備工作，其中啦啦隊的訓練和選拔，以致對戰的策劃，已成為國家首要任務。

國際級藝術總監趙守鎮小姐，生於1974，已婚，韓國仁川人。由她創立的「北京守鎮啦啦隊」，蜚聲全國及日韓：
- 在北京乃至全國樹立起了「最佳演出團隊」的品牌形象，並被譽為「中國第一」啦啦隊。
- 曾參與無數大型運動和公益表演，是2002年日韓足球世界杯中中國唯一派出的官方啦啦隊。
- 於02-03、03-04賽季的CBA聯賽(中國男子籃球職業聯賽)成為官方樣板啦啦隊，在2005-2006年賽季被CBA官方冠以「全國最佳啦啦隊」的稱號。
- 常於國家級大型晚會獻技，早前更以「全國最佳啦啦隊」名義獲邀參加北京奧運倒數一千日的全球直播大型文藝晚會表演。
- 被指定成為即將舉行的「沙灘排球奧運資格選拔賽」表演團體 - 場上「運動心理戰」的重要工作。

大赛规程：

2007-2008中国体育观众助威团“啦啦队”
形象大赛活动规程
一、主办单位：国家体育总局社会体育指导中心、中国奥委会新闻委员会。
二、承办单位：各举办地省级社体中心、北京华洲国际广告有限公司。
三、协办单位：中国大学生健美操、艺术体操协会。
四、日期和地点
　　（一）海选赛将于2007年7月15日至10月31日在全国省会城市举行。
　　（二）分区赛将于2007年11月1日至2008年1月31日分别在沈阳市（东北赛区）、石家庄（华北赛区）、上海市（华东赛区）、广州市（华南赛区）、长沙市（华中赛区）、成都市（西南赛区）、西安市（西北赛区）、北京市（津京赛区）举行。
　　（三）总决赛将于2008年6月30日前在北京举行。
五、参赛单位和个人
　　各省、自治区、直辖市、各行业体协、社会各界。
六、比赛项目
　　（一）助威个人赛（简称个人赛）。
　　（二）助威团队赛（简称团队赛）。
七、竞赛办法
　　（一）采用国家体育总局社体中心制定的《体育观众助威团“啦啦队”形象大赛活动规则》。
　　（二）进行海选赛、分区赛和总决赛；海选赛进行初选和预赛；分区赛进行复赛和半决赛；总决赛进行预赛、复赛和决赛；在团队赛总决赛中进行啦啦队队长赛。
　　（三）海选赛采用评委投票淘汰制，分区赛和总决赛采用综合选评制。
　　（四）个人赛表演时间不超过1分钟，团队赛表演时间不超过2分钟。
　　（五）参加者可选用脸谱、发饰、服饰、道具、歌曲、口号、动作等形式再现助威形象，体现“人文奥运”、民族风貌、社会和谐与“全民健身与奥运同行”主题。
　　（六）分区赛在模拟赛场进行，总决赛在竞赛现场进行，比赛场景在赛前抽签确定。
　　（七）特别奖在分区赛和总决赛中产生，评选办法采用现场评分、短信支持率互动方式。
八、参加办法
　　（一）个人和团队报名后，网上将根据报名规模随机分组并提供海选时间、地点。
　　（二）个人参赛选手年龄、性别，团队参赛人数不限。团队报名的同时可确定每队最多2名队长参加啦啦队队长赛。
　　（三）参赛
　　　　　1.人员报名地区不限。
　　　　　2.在个人海选赛中落选的人员不得到异地再次参加个人比赛或代替其他人参赛。
　　　　　3.报名资料有误不得参加比赛。
　　　　　4.未按规定时间到规定的地点参加比赛者视为弃权。
　　（四）参加团队赛可在团队名称前冠企业名称（北京“××××”队），企业名称最多不得超过四个字符，也不能在同一阶段的比赛中更改队名。
　　（五）参加团队赛的队，如上场人数与报名单不符时可更换参赛选手或缺人参赛。
　　（六）参加各项目比赛的表演风格应符合大众审美需求和表现文明观众言行，使用道具应具有正面健康人物、安全性和不具攻击性。
　　（七）不得在比赛中出现怪异、恐怖、凶残和宣传封建迷信的设计和表演。对违背奥林匹克精神的表演编排，组委会有权劝其改过或取消比赛资格。
　　（八）不采取任何不正当行为干预比赛进程，操纵或影响比赛结果，影响或阻碍其他参赛者参赛。不得以任何方式和理由拖延出场、干预比赛进程、扰乱比赛秩序，不得以任何借口罢赛、罢奖，违者取消比赛资格和已取得的成绩。
　　（九）参加者需自行办理人身意外伤害保险并自行承担参赛的一切安全责任。
　　（十）组委会可随时根据不可抗拒的实际情况中断大赛，并且无需对参赛者负责；
九、录取名次办法
　　（一）海选赛初选100名（队）进行预赛，不足100名（队）直接进行预赛，预赛录取前15名（队）进入分区赛。
　　（二）分区赛录取前15名（队）进入总决赛。
　　（三）总决赛预赛录取前60名（队）进入复赛，复赛录取前30名（队）进入决赛，决赛录取 “十佳个人”和“十佳团队”。
　　（四）啦啦队队长赛在团队赛总决赛中录取前10名。
　　（五）个人赛、队长赛设“最佳脸谱”、“最佳发饰”、“最佳道具”、“最佳口号”、“最佳动作”、“最佳自创歌曲”、“最佳服饰”、“最佳表演”、“最佳人气”、“最佳形象”特别奖各一名。
　　（六）团队赛设“最佳脸谱”、“最佳服饰”、“最佳道具”、“最佳口号”、“最佳动作”、“最佳表演”、“最佳编排”、“最佳团队形象”特别奖各一名。
　　（七）舞蹈和技巧啦啦队直接进入总决赛,办法另定。
十、奖励办法
　　（一）凡参加者发给参赛纪念品。
　　（二）获海选赛前60名、分区赛前15名者发给纪念品和证书。
　　（三）总决赛
　　　　　1.获个人赛、队长赛前10名者颁发纪念品、奖杯和“十佳”称号证书。
　　　　　2.获团队赛前10名颁发纪念品、荣誉证书、奖杯和“十佳团队”称号。
　　　　　3.获“特别奖”者颁发证书和奖杯。
　　　　　4.舞蹈和技巧啦啦队录取办法另定。
　　（四）物质奖励
　　　　　大赛设物质奖，奖励办法由北京华洲国际广告有限公司分别于海选赛、分区赛和总决赛前一个月在网上公布。
十一、报名和报到
　　（一）所有报名在网上进行。
　　（二）获得分区赛资格的选手须在比赛开始前15天在本赛区网上填写参赛确认表，逾期视为弃权，空额由替补选手顶替。
　　（三）获得总决赛资格的选手应在组委会规定的日期到指定地点参加赛前会议和培训，缺席者视为弃权，组委会有权安排待定个人或团队顶替。

十二、经费
　　在各阶段比赛中不向选手收取任何其它参赛费用，参赛海选赛的一切费用自理，分区赛和总决赛邀请参加人员（队）参加培训、排练和社会公益活动费用由邀请方提供。
十三、评委及仲裁委员会
　　大赛仲裁委员会成员和评委由主办单位聘请。
十四、参赛者须同意
　　（一）非参赛者向组委会提出特别要求，组委会可公开选手的必要资料，参赛者不得有异议。
　　（二）严格遵守主办单位制定的活动规程和规则。
　　（三）无条件服从大赛日程安排，自行安排生活起居，接受组委会的统一管理和专业人员的指导。
　　（四）凡经大赛组委会操作完成的平面摄影、立体拍摄，如图片、录音、录像等，以及大赛组委会根据需要在自己或他人的电子网络为大赛做推广宣传所完成的任何可享有版权的资料，其版权及相关权力均归大赛组委会。
　　（五）“十佳”称号获得者在大赛组委会邀请的情况下，有参加相关公益性活动的义务。
　　（六）大赛组委会有权无偿使用参加者的肖像、摄影、个人资料等进行大赛的各类宣传推广活动，出版和发行相关资料和刊物，而不需要通知参赛者，且不负任何法律责任和义务。
